Located near the center of Cernobbio, Materia is a Michelin star restaurant owned by a chef, his girl and another somellier friend. They've been there for the last six years and they certainly know what they are doing. On the day of the visit, a Friday lunch October 22, we went at 2 o'clock and missed the chance to try the degustation but we did order a few items from the a la carte menu. These included the scampi with beetroot, the pigeon, ravioli with game, and a bone marrow dessert. All the dishes had some surprise elements in them, infusions and deep complex flavous aiming for that umami sensation.
We loved all the dishes regardless of some odd combinations involved, which is a point well demonstrate by the chef. This young chef is obviously enjoying his job! Service was friendly and efficient.
With a bit of luck you can get a parking on the restaurant's street.
