Situated near the Odeon area, this traditional place serves French dishes in a less formal manner. Le Comptoir has authentic charm, with an old school, French bistro flair.
On the day of the visit, we tried the foie gras and the house specialty, the beef cheeks. Both were superb. The foie gras was fresh and served with marmalade and a crunchy toast. The beef cheeks were swimming in a complex flavorful jus, with sweet aromas from the wine and the herbs. They were also so tenderly melting in the spoon, it is hard to imagine a better execution.
Both of the dishes were reasonably priced.
Service at Le Comptoir was adequate but with the famous French attitude.
To sum it all up, if I was living in Paris, I could become a regular at this little place. For the food and its charming ambience.
