There is a reason it used to be called Roman Empire. An empire requires infrastructure, culture, art, sports, religion to go along with a spectacular nation. And it is all there. In one city. The whole city of Rome is an outdoor museum. Everywhere you look there is a glorious building, a monument a flashback in the city's history. Most of them are awe inspiring, capturing the wealth and power enjoyed by the Romans. What a heritage! The streets of the major landmarks (which by the way you can visit with the Roma Pass), and the bridges on the river have activity both at day and at night. Especially on Saturday nights.
Hotels are mostly older buildings, charming in architecture but some of them are not so glowing when it comes down to service regardless of their star ranking. They also have a bad habit of turning off the Air Condition during nighttime (in the summer) so make sure you understand what you are getting for your money...
