The small town of Gordes, classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France, has a few things going for itself; a castle (now a town hall and a museum) and ramparts, the 12th century Sénanque Abbey, a church and a fountain, coffee shops, an open market (Tuesday), art galleries, calades (which are traditional narrow alleyways) and incredible provincial landscape with vineyards and picturesque stone houses.
