Its flamboyant Gothic exterior is majestic to say the least. The Church of Our Lady of Laeken was built not so long ago compared to other European churches, in 1854. Sitting under the watchful eye of Rodin's "Thinker", this Royal Crypt / church is the resting place of some famous people, including the playwright Michel de Ghelderode, architects Poelaert, Balat and Suys, violinist Charles de Bériot, opera singer "La Malibran" and the Royals: Leopold I, Leopold II, Albert I, Leopold III and King Boudewijn. The crypt is not open for public viewing often though.
