Statues
"The man first published Christopher Colombus. He deserves a statue."

The man behind the statue is local print maker and humanist, Dirk Martens, who is considered to be the person who brought the art of printing to the southern part of the Low Countries.

The statue of Dirk Martens is often referred to as 'the black guy' due to the oxidized bronze coloration. But he is most famous for printing and publishing Erasmus' Utopia and Christopher Columbus.
