The Broel Towers are two identical towers gating a bridge, on the river Lys in the city of Kortrijk. Suprisingly, they look identical but were not built at the same time. The Southern tower (Speyetoren) was built in 1385 to control the traffic on the river, while the Northern tower (Ingelborchtoren) was built in 1415 to be used as an armory. Today, Broel Towers, the landmark symbol of Kortrijk, are reminders of the city's Medieval past.
