"Wine making chateaux, forest and arboretum for walking."

The Chateau de Ripaille and Forest is one of the few things to do in the small town of Thonon-Les-Bain but don't expect to be mesmerized by it. It's a private domain and with a small fee you can visit it and get a guided tour. The adjacent forest of Ripaille offers a nice stroll, with wild animals, and birds. Its forest and the arboretum are free of charge. The Chateaux used to be the residence of the Dukes of Savoie, and a Carthusian monastery in the Middle-Ages. Its recent renovation restored its former glory and brought its wine making into the AOC map.
