A traditional and classic Italian restaurant (in every sense of the word classic), La Colombetta is situated in the pedestrian area of the old city of Como.
On the day of the visit, which was a Monday lunch, we were the only customers in. We did wonder why.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with a glass of Prosecco by the welcoming Italian owner. We ordered seafood and prawn pasta and two fish dishes, turbot and sea bass. All of them were prepared the way an Italian mother would cook for her family. Fresh ingredients, traditional cooking but not so generously portioned.
We kept the dishes down to 4, yet we ended up paying almost €200 with just one glass of wine and 2 bottles of water. Dishes were priced on the heavy side.
It seems that a lot of restaurants in Italy apply a table charge, €9 per person, even for kids for this one.
